Peekskill Opens its Studios

This weekend is the Peekskill Arts Council's 12th Annual Open Studios event. First, the scene will be set on Friday and Saturday evening with the H-Art Gallery's presentation of Unnatural, a multimedia art exhibition featuring sculpture by artist Wilfredo Morel, sound performance by composer Patrick H. Cannell, and film screenings by Nicholas Cannell. From noon to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday work from more than 100 emerging and nationally known artists will be on display at sites throughout the city. Visitors can take guided tours from the Gazebo at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm both days, or pick up the map and walk on their own. In addition to the more than 25 artists' studios whose doors will be open, exhibitions include George Dubinsky's "Eclectic Images" at the Field Library and "Drawn," a group show of artists at the Standard House. The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art will have free admission, and there will be free shuttle buses stopping at the Standard House, The Hat Factory, the HVCCA, and the Gazebo.
