Estee Lauder Slept Here

Built in 1925, this charming house is a reminder of the days when Mohegan Lake was a booming resort. Once the summer place of the cosmetics queen Estee Lauder (according to the listing), the exterior features a double-gambrel roof and large porch, and is as sweet as can be (although it does have vinyl siding). Inside, the 1,700 square foot, 3 bedroom home has been updated but still retains it's sense of warmth. The property is just over a half acre and is a block from the lake (and is eligible for the lake association membership). The house is in the Lakeland school district. $515,000

What a gem this listing looks like. It must be magnificent in the summer. Yet the price makes it seem oddly affordable. A sign of the economic times or a clue this property is less desirable than it seems?
