A Good Mansard is Hard to Find

This gem has great character and plenty of potential. Built in 1920, the exterior appears to have been somewhat compromised—in my opinion—by a brick extension, but the Mansard roof and dormer more than make up for it. Inside, the 2,100 square foot home has 3 bedrooms and original details to spare. Located close to everything in Ossining, the 0.20 of an acre lot features a nice yard and a garage. With work, this could be quite nifty. What do you think? $359,999

It does look like it has some nice features (I hadn't seen the interior pictures before), but it has been on the market for quite awhile, which suggests there is something holding people back besides the economy. I have a recollection that in one shot it looked like the street was not entirely residential?

I think the problem is the price. The house has great details but it needs a lot of $$$. In this market $350,000 is a lot for a fixer in Ossining.
