Taking Time to Reflect

It's been a busy few weeks and I haven't been able to find much time to blog. But, beyond that, I'm just not feeling it. I've always loved blogging and keeping this site up and running. But it's suddenly gotten very stale. So I'm taking a little time to rethink and reflect. Should I end the blog? Change the blog? Keep plugging away? I'm not sure... but any advice is welcome.

I enjoy your blog and would miss it if you "retired"

Me too. It's helpful as a newbie to the area to have so much of the experience "curated." You could farm out segments to other volunteers: restaurant reviews, the weekend events listing, etc. This may help you get some additional pleasure as an editor instead of having to come up with everything yourself.

Thanks for the encouragement! The fact that the site has a consistent and relatively sizeable number of "returning visitors" makes it hard to end it.

I love the idea of collaborators and would be thrilled to hear from anyone interested in writing posts for the site (use the email link in "About the Site.") If enough people were interested, I'd certainly consider that approach.

Thanks again

I enjoy your blog as well and would miss it - but totally understand that if it's not working for you, you might "retire"...

I love your blog! I am sorry that you haven't been posting for a while. Hang in there. Daydreaming about the houses on your blog keeps me going when my life in NYC seems daunting.

I love the blog. Do fewer posts if you need to. But I really hope you don't stop completely!

I've been a big fan of your blog since I moved out here 2 years ago. Your blog and theselby.com are the 2 sites I go to if I have a spare second to surf the web for sheer fun. I would also miss it very much if you retired. You've got a great eye & very witty posts, apart from the blog just being useful & inspiring. I do think it's a good idea for you to farm out some of the work, but that's always easier said than done. I hope you will find something in the blog to rekindle your interest.

I use your blog all the time to get ideas for things to do! I also enjoy the real estate stuff. It would be a real blow if you stopped.

You do a great job. Love the idea that others might be able to help you, and you could edit. Or, just post less frequently!

Your blog looks like a a front for tooting real estate sort of a real estate agent website or brownstoner, etc.
I am happy to see you going unless you stick with events and issues pertaining the area.

I live your postings that tell what is happening in the area!

I'm surprised at the comment that the blog just represents realtor interests. I find it an independent look at the real estate market which is really helpful both for prospective buyers and people who are already settled into the area. In the latter category, we have a huge investment in our property and, while not having the time and energy to follow the market myself, the blog helps me to stay aware, for better or worse, of where my investment stands. And there's nothing more enjoyable than looking at other people's houses! I do also really enjoy the happenings listings and reviews. Again, it's nice having someone else do the work. I hope you will keep at it in some way, better fewer postings than none at all!

When my wife and I were researching a place to move we found your blog very useful, especially when we were looking for a reason to come up from the city and check out some of your suggestions for weekend activities. It's been very useful. And it really helped sell us on the area. Thanks.
