Peekskill Opens its Studios

The Peekskill Arts Council's 11th Open Studios event starts this Friday and runs through Sunday. Over 35 studios and 11 galleries will be open to the public, and works by more than 100 artists will be on display. The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art will have free admission Saturday and Sunday, and participants can visit studios and galleries at their own pace. Throughout town, the sidewalks will feature written and illustrated works by local poets and artists, which will lead the way to special events. Some highlights include:

Friday: From 6:00 to 9:00 there will jazz performances at Ford Piano, an open mic night at Street Studio Two starting at 7:00, and more live music at the Jan Peek Gazebo.

Saturday: Live painting performance by EYE, a collaborative artist's group, at the Paramount Center for the Arts from 12:30 to 2:00; a premiere of the one-woman show, “Swimming Home,” at Ford Piano at 7:00; performance pieces and the Swinging Jazz Collaborative at the Maxwell Fine Arts Gallery from 6:30 to 9:30.

Sunday: Live music at the Jan Peek Gazebo from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 6:30 to 9:30 at Maxwell Fine Arts Gallery.
