Buy a Bed & Breakfast

This large and lovely 1889 Victorian in the heart of Croton's upper village is currently an operating B&B. With 6,300 square feet, the Alexander Hamilton House has 8 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, seasonal river views, and a pool. The house has gobs of period charm and is being sold with the "business furnishings." The half-acre property also includes a 4 bedroom house built in 1996 which is currently used by the owners. Theoretically, those not interested in running a B&B could live in one structure and rent out the other (but you'd have to check the zoning to be sure that that is an option). Either way, this is certainly an interesting listing. $1,995,000

Looks like a life-size dollhouse! Too much chintz. But it could be really nice if you got rid of all the antiques and wallpaper.

I was just about to say exactly what was already said here. The market exists for this kind of thing, but it looks like it needs some cosmetic work.

I like the furniture--and it is perfect for a B&B. According to the website the place charges $200a night for 2 people! Not cheap for a B&B. If you were booked all the the time you'd make a fair amount of money. But I don't imagine you would be that busy.
